How do Machines learn from Humans? The Art of Teachings Machines

Machine learning has created many breakthroughs in the technology world. It has brought new ideas and inventions to help businesses expand into a greater form of intelligence. As we make further improvements in the field, it’s important to understand how machine learning and AI technologies work. Like a small child who learns to recognize an object through repeated patterns of behavior. An AI-powered machine learns the information in the same way. Using deep learning techniques, computer scientists create an artificial neural pathway that allows machines to mimic the human brain.

However, machines cannot still learn and process the information on their own. They need human help and input to analyze information and put their thoughts into action. We are still a long way from creating the perfect AI machine for industrial and commercial usage. But the process has started.

Can AI make to Learn Intrinsic Human Qualities?

A team of scientists led by Stanford University’s Andrew Ng and Google’s Jeff Dean found out that a machine using an artificial neural network, powered with over 1 million connections can identify objects like cats, flowers and other images without the need for any human intervention. The research showed that it is possible to build an AI-powered machine that trains itself to recognize and analyze complex patterns of information.

Jeff, a senior fellow with Google’s Brain Team said, “The goal of automating machine learning is to develop techniques for computers to solve new machine-learning problems automatically, without the need for human machine-learning experts to intervene on every new problem.”

With so many AI technologies, GANs (generative adversarial networks) are the ones that stand out the most. GANs are a class of algorithms used in unsupervised machine learning algorithms. GANs are special in the sense they make machine learning a lot advanced. GANs have human-like attributes to perceive information in a way that helps in problem-solving, For instance, you attempt to draw something, and then the machine will figure out how to make it look like a real image.

Another group of researchers from Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research Lab experimented to see if a machine can learn to play a game, super Mario, a 1980-era video game all by itself. It wanted to reveal how the curiosity of playing a game generates an internal reward system in a sophisticated machine. In a research paper published last year, the Berkeley team explained how they are using curiosity “as an intrinsic reward signal to enable the machine to explore its environment and learn skills that might be useful later in its life.” The research has been successful in developing a machine that displays a newfound curiosity to learn more about the environment. It works in remarkable ways as it strengthens the idea that machines can think and act like humans and how it pushes the boundaries of human intelligence.

Do we need to worry about AI taking over?

The promise of AI-enabled machines is not far beyond our reach. It is increasingly becoming possible to develop highly-efficient and humanistic AI-driven products and services. But one of the most talked-about things in the world of AI do we need to be threatened by the rise of these powerful machines. There is two way to look at this question. The potential of AI is enormous, from robotics to automation – AI is all about enhanced intelligence and increased productivity. No doubt, it is one of the most sought-after technologies in the world. It continues to bring so many positive changes in our life that are hard to believe it may harm us in any way.

But, if we go by what we see in movies that are set in a dystopian world where machines have partially or completely replaced the human population, we are bound to get a little suspicious about how they work. In reality, AI can only make us work better and free us from many time-consuming and labor-intensive activities. The emergence of AI as a learning tool opens up new possibilities for AI-driven experiences. It is one of the most important advancements that can reshape how humans interact with machines — and each other.

AI technologies like GANs are truly making AI work smarter, and creating a world very similar to that of us. Instead of taking a selective viewpoint, we need to embrace AI to spur greater productivity and creativity. Sometimes, we are surprised how AI-enabled voice assistants like Siri or Alexa understand us or react to what we are saying. But, kids find it very natural to talk to them or even play with them. It’s the pervasive nature of technologies that we are afraid of or we are still coming to terms with the rapid changes that it brings around us. It’s an interesting question for you to answer.
